AFS v3.61 released yesterday added the Wilson Combat Recon 6.8 SPC 18" to cover the 6.8mm SPC DMR/Hunting AR variant. I'm still waiting for some kind of feedback on the NCTH changes before I will retrofit UC-1.13 v3.6x with these change though.

By the way, I've updated the item list on page one of this thread.

Match grade 6.8mm SPC is in yesterday's dual AFS v3.61 release. There is one problem, integrating the changes to ammo/magazines that existed pre-v3.61, such as the 6.8mm SPC, may have to be delayed due to save game and map pre-placement considerations.

Also there is a pressing need to re-order a bunch of stuff for the "Encyclopedia" feature found right now in "Unstable" builds. Unless the encyclopedia now sorts alphabetically, like Bobby Rays, in the most recent code base.

Basically with ChrisL's "Map Item Substitution" feature (part of the now stalled NMS project), ammo/magazine changes are going to be a pain. The changes to 6.8mm SPC and 7.92x57mm were designed preserve the ordering for other ammo, but it hasn't been tested yet.

You know, the Stoner 63 is pretty modular. Can be used as everything from a carbine to a LMG. Mix and match! Slap a 150-round drum on it and you can finally get some use out of all of that .223 ammo you've left behind. wink Really, look it up. Plenty of info around. Such a big kit, so many possibilities.
(I imagine it isn't already in the game. Forgive me if I'm mistaken.)

Oh, and I found some VEPR variations. Minor stuff, but still fun.

With NMS on hold there are currently plans to revamp .223 ammo in UC-1.13 - mostly ammotype selection, but I might as well add some belts (I think that drum is a round belt holder from the info I read). My current plans for .223 will be save game breaking so I'm saving them for a major revision.

The VEPR right now is missing a Tac-stock variant, so there is a need for one more variant. Actually, I won't be adding any more guns until the next major revision (the one where .223 will be worked on).

I've been wondering, have you thought about revamping the ammo values at all? What I mean is that seeing the same values on basically every AP and HP variation, regardless of caliber, doesn't tell you much. I imagine that caliber still comes into play but there's really very little in the way of visual representation. Weapon damage? Can that be the only difference?
MAM style is a bit too much but some variation would be nice. Just a thought.

Those are the reasons behind the multiple AP values ammotypes. Take a magazine of 9mm AP, 5.56 AP, 5.56 Heavy, 7.62x51mm AP, and 7.62x39mm AP they all should have different modifiers.

I'll add the CZ-75 Kadet, not the adapter though as there wouldn't be an in-game reason to downgrade the weapon. Not unless a player wants to deliberately use a .22LR for in-combat training of mercs.

EDIT: if someone can do a decent set of graphics for the Grand Power K22, I'll add it as well. This whole .22LR business is actually a long term plan to be worked on over several months and includes resorting all the items again. Additionally I'm going to start playing around with the in-game encyclopedia. From some of the feedback, and watching the two "Let's Play" runs of UC-1.13 on youtube, there appear to be some features that can be better explained in-game...

I may just add the Grand Power K22 to fill a capability gap. While researching for "Project Squirrel Hunter" got the idea to ease the likely first UBT battles by arming the hooligans with .22LR weapons. Even found/added a handmade Russian .22LR revolver popular with criminals there. May be a good idea to fill out their numbers with more eastern .22LR auto-loading pistols, though so far all I'm finding are competition guns.

Due to the nature of XML modding, it would be easier to introduce .45 Colt, including +P, instead of adding +P .45 ACP. I'll think about it because there is going to be a big gap in the middle when I move .223 Remington to the end of the ammo list (so I can easily add all the versions on the todo list).

Yeah, I forgot to add a .22 LR AK clone. Probably modify one of the existing ones into one (just need to splice in the appropriate magazine). Do people want one in wood or synthetic furniture?

No to the Glock 22LR conversion: 1) not much reason to downgrade any found Glocks, even less for ones bought and shipped to your mercs 2) already plenty of European Polymer pistols in .22 LR

GSS 7.62x39mm - I'll think about depending on how the whole ammo revamp for later this year goes.


EDIT: will be adding the following:

Modernized FG-42 - gets more use out of 20 round mags for 8mm Mauser (or whatever notation is used in-game)

PDR-C - again it fits a niche in-game, and must encourage people to do more artwork. Hint to people who browse this thread, throw artwork at me and I'll come to you asking for permission to add it to the mods...

While browsing sniper rifles i realized there is no Cheytac Intervention. Due to appearance in MW2 it became an iconic gun. I know it has its own caliber and sniper selection is already too crowded but i just wanted to tell.

.408 or .375 Cheytac isn't the best unless you are going for short tactical insertions due to availability (especially in JA2). Tough gun to draw in 117px too due to detail, but can be done.

Though I think others are needed first.

Sure anything that I figured out how to setup with items and mergers can be applied to another gun, but the question is do I want to? Answer is no, the Cleaning Kit was originally meant to take the edge off of lack of reliability found on AR-15. It later expanded to other rifles. I am not going to expand weapons that cleaning kits are applicable to pistols as that would water down its purpose even more.

I made a rather impassioned case for inclusion of the the Winchester Model 94 lever action rifle in .30-30 caliber over in the AIMNAS request thread. I don't know how to link to a specific post, sorry, I think I have the only posts that discuss the .30-30 so a quick search ought to turn it up.

In summation:
It is a very real, very popular (millions!) rifle / caliber combination. They are ubiquitous in the United States. They are also quite popular in South America, the setting for JA2's fictional Arulco, and has military application as a "scout rifle" platform when mounted with a low power (2.5-4x) scope. This is a gun highly likely to be found in the militia of a poor South American nation. My post in the AIMNAS forum has links to scope mount manufacturers, ghost ring sight sellers, and a synthetic stock "tactical" .30-30 lever action made by Mossberg - with rails even! With modern ammunition (that has eliminated the blunt nose bullet limitation) the .30-30 gives up nothing to any other intermediate range rifle caliber.

More important than the rifle really is the .30-30 cartridge itself, the most popular caliber by far in the lever action platform, and much harder hitting than any pistol-caliber (.44, .357, etc.) lever gun. In fact, the rifle could even be a Marlin 336, or Mossberg 464, etc and not the Winchester. I do like the Winchester Model 94 because the graphic is already in the XML and that particular .30-30 lever action was made in vast numbers since its introduction in 1895, 117 years ago!

I made one for my own game using the Winchester trapper graphic. Since the ballistics of the .30-30 are similar to 7.62x39mm Warsaw Pact I made it take that caliber, though it really needs it's own ammo entry. My attempts to add a caliber didn't work out so well. I will persist but I'm sure some xml whiz can knock it out in a day.

I also agree with Wolf00 that some more revolvers are needed, but if a new caliber is called for, .45 Long Colt is a no brainer. The .454 Casull in game is a lengthened .45 LC, and is "backwards compatible," .45 LC can chamber in those guns. Not in-game, of course, but in real life.

Plus, with .45 LC we can have ambidextrous Colt Peacemakers. Yee-haw!

One more thing that bothers me. .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm guns take different ammunition. .223 and 5.56x45mm are technically (though not practically) different but the in-game effect caused by separating them as two ammo types leads to a bizarre situation where a merc cannot use ammo that really ought to fit, even in a pinch.

The same situation in real life exists with the interchangeability of .308 Winchester and 7.62x51mm ammo but JA1.13 simply uses the latter even in rifles that should be .308 in real life, such as the Steyr Scout or the Vepr-308 (which even has .308 in the name)! Come to think of it this would be a good solution for .223, get rid of it altogether and change the .223 guns to 5.56x45mm since there are only a few .223 guns relative to the number of 5.56x45mm guns. This eliminates complication and is a real-world solution a ragtag bunch of scrounging mercs would adopt anyway!

.223 will persist for historical reasons (Urban Chaos). I will be looking into using item transformations (HAM5 feature) to convert ammo between .223 and 5.56mm NATO, the big thing being whether or not the ammo count is preserved between conversions.

A proven capability is guns that convert between calibres and I'll be proceeding with multi-cal weapon copies of some existing guns in future.

.45 Long Colt will be added along with compatible .410 shotgun shells.

No time till summer for any of this. Perhaps someone will take up New Magazine System (which includes multi-calibre compatibility for guns) and make this a moot point...

Xubor, with the Para P14-45, I'd prefer a more prominent magazine (that extended bit) to set it apart from singe stack 1911's already in-game please. Without a tac rail, it would make a good replacement for the graphics currently in use. With a tac rail (ie. easy edit) it would possibly be a new gun.

EDIT: checking the stock v1.13 graphics, the High-Capacity 1911 has the magazine extension, though not as prominent as I'd like.

SR-93 - seems to be somewhat rare

XP-100/100R - new calibre, or new size of .223 Rem (1 and/or 4 rounds)?

I say use the SR-93 (.338) as a unique/rare police weapon. Some fancy sniper dude, lawn chair on a roof.
Starting to wish that Danubia was twice its normal size. More opportunities to find fun loot. wink

I think for this rifle large calibers are interesting, eg. 300 Win Mag. Could be used as a sniper's secondary rifle for medium ranges, using the same ammo.

The Remington XP-100 is a single-shot pistol that is chambered with rifle ammo:

Apparently it's able to take a bipod

it could be an early-mid-game medium range (20-40) weapon suited for gunslinger mercs (could be in sidney's starting gear)

barrel length: 79cm

unique to this gun: its carrying handle is on its bottom site.
It' similar to the Steyr HS50(both are based on an earlyer version of this gun)

Hello wil473.I have a little question\critic on all this stuff:
The ja2 1.13 and Urban chaos mod is already have a many types of weapons.Why you still adding new weapons?What a reason for this?Maybe is will be much good if you develop the mod on gameplay stuff not a weapon stuff?

Ps.it was just a question.Your work on UC is great,but really there is already a lot of weapons.=)

Including v3.65, the last few version of both AFS and UC-1.13 included substantial attempts to re-balance NCTH. My attempts to prove that we all initially got the treatment of pistols under NCTH backwards being the most recent modification to game play.

New guns are easy to add, introducing a new feature like Over Heating weapons will take substantially more time and effort. I will not be in a position to implement much of anything till this summer. Aside from the new guns discussed here, v4.xx will have:

- rebuild of the item ordering to facilitate other features
- rework all item sizes now that the limits have been externalized (this will take weeks...)
- rework graphic libraries now that there are more of them available.
- removal of Folding Stock System (FSS) v3 in favour of HAM5 Item Transformation FSS v4
- rebuild of attachment lists using the (New) Common Attachment Framework - it shouldn't be as bad as it sounds as the point of (N)CAF is to streamline the work of assigning attachments
- Figure out how to add the JA1/DG mercs in UC-1.13 if possible, some will be in-country as RPC's, some may even fill in the ranks of the PMC serving Kingpin in the "UC-1.13: Betrayal" project
- fixing up a few UBT maps
- underbarrel shotgun(s)
- weapon overheating
- trip mines and claymores
- anything else Flugente, Madd Mugsy, et al come up with by the time I start v4.xx

All of the features to be implemented will take several hours to days each to implement. A new gun should be less than an hour once the artwork is done.

I have a spreadsheet for the itemsizes I use in AIMNAS. Maybe you'd want to use that as well. ATM I use 950 item sizes instead of 34.

This will actually take even longer than item sizes. Even getting a decent 10 colour palettes for the the 10 available sti files is a LOT of work. I tried to make the palettes and gave up on that due to lack of time.

Taking a break from real world commitments, I've updated my chart for how v4.xx is going to look - its ugly as far as changes go. Unless someone produces a proper Rifle Grenade System, there are already over 900 individual gun weapons and over 800 magazine items. I haven't even figured out where to put all the stuff displaced by mod specific changes.

Planned changes/features that just add to the mess
- Multi-magazine shotguns: ie. one barrel will be a permanent "underbarrel" so each gun is actually two in the XML's
- - Neostead
- - Kel-Tec KSG
- - UTAS UTS-15
- 2nd FN Barracuda to use .38 Special (just like AIMNAS)
- most G3 and MP5 weapons will have fixed/retractable stock items
- .300 BLK versions of the major HK416 variants, existing .300 BLK weapons will be direct impingement (meaning they won't like sustained autofire when overheating weapons is on)

For the next little while I will only be considering new guns in .45 Long Colt and .410 gauge. Particular interest in dual ammo guns (even though it will take up two item numbers) like the Taurus Judge.

Additionally, unless by some coding god comes up with "real-rifle-grenades" there is now a limit of 40 gun indexes left for UC-1.13 2012(or 2013 if I go by car model years). I am loath to cut the capability because I'm also looking to add IoV's system of converting some hand grenades into rifle launched grenades...

Perhaps after I fill in the .410 & .45Colt roster.

Looks like I have a candidate for the first .45Colt rifle for the game, and it is a dual calibre weapon too: Rossi(Legacy) Puma in .454Casul and .45Colt with a 10 (9+1) round capacity. Need to see what else is suggested before I decide on adding a new capacity size for .454Casul
