Hi everyone! We, the VdM from the german JA2-Basis, have after four years of development just released our UB based mod "Back to Business" Features: - 144 maps - a very different and complex new story that continues the saga of JA2 and UB - lots of new NPCs, RPCs etc. - lots of new weapons, items - many new and unique quests - new tiles - and yes, a new monster! - long gameplay guaranteed! - Size of download 60 MB Please follow this link to see the news-page of the JA2-Basis: http://ja.gamigo.de/index3.php Link for direkt download is: http://ja2mods.de/downscript/download.php?id=50 So far, "Back to Business" is available only in german. But the mod is based on the US V. 1.01 EXE so compatability is no problem. Give it a try, even if you do not understand the german language very well! Regards Sinclair

Diego is an undertaker, he tells about the war situation in the town of Greifenstein. He says, that there is a lot of work for him waiting in the south. Diego does not trigger an quests. "Betaeubungspfeil" is an arrow to stun enemies. What about using an online translator like babelfish? Sinclair

Okay, I just had a quick word with Sinclair. There are a few specific files that need translating. Firstly, most of the 'Files' data is located in 'files.zip' in the Campaign Data directory. These are mostly HTML docs that need translating. I am currently working on those, I'll post the individual files when ready. NPC-scripts, emails and itemdescs, are of course in the .edt format. NPC speeches are not voiced, so its just the text itself that needs translating. Some of them give vital quest clues though, so care needs to be taken when working on them. While I am currently hard at work trying to get the stuff translated, I just want to point out that I won't promise: -a release date -compete and final translation of the whole game. (I'm a bit of a sh!t in this aspect, with me often not having enough time/motivation to see things through. I'll do my best of course, but others are welcome to give the translation a shot too just in case I don't deliver. I know this is crap, but I'll do my best Occasional kicks in the arse by other posters are more than welcome. -a perfectly accurate, mistake free job. Hey, I'm only human, so if there is something that does not sound right, give me a shout. So do not celebrate, thank me, rely on me or read too much into this. I'll give it a go, that's all. Ta!

The arms dealer near your starting location does not carry any guns anymore as everyone has been buying weapons. None left for you. He tells you that there is another one at another location though. He'carries 30-06 rounds en masse. H10: The guy near the petrol station tells you that he saw a plane and that maybe the friendly folks at the radar station south of him might be able to give you more information on its flightpath. (It will be clarified soon) The other guy, guarded by the green soldier is the assitant to the rebels and tells you that his commander went on a mission with a bunch of crack troops and has not come back yet. Could you please find him? Thanks! ANFO: Sorry, never come across it. Does it look like anything remotely recognizable? Any idea as to where you found it? edit, fcuk, beaten

Okay, here goes: I have translated the ReadMe file and half of the 'Files' data on the laptop. (RIS Recon is partially done, and I have to touched the later stuff, I don't want to spoil the game for myself)
Now, I need to find somewhere to upload both files. Does anyone know a place that allows you do do this? Its a 6kb .txt file and a 730kb .zip file.

@30.06 seller: Sorry, I must have been mistaken. I thought it was the bloke up in Grayvalon, but Sinclair tells me that he does not stock 30.06. My bad.
@bra: rofl. No clue, squad tent? @Merc Regenschirm: That is the M.E.R.C umbrella that is given to all their troops. It is part of the promotional gift war that AIM and MERC got themselves into, with each side trying to outbid each other with freebies. (Che-flask, Sam Garver knife, Flo-watch, MERC brolly). Oh, the umbrella also doubles as a weapon, so if you want to, you can wack the enemy with it... @Anita: What is her location again?

Bra and Teddybear are just for decoration. The bra is there because there was a bra to be found in JA1! More spoiler for the Oil-Terminal Quest ahead: read it only after talking to Anita! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Go to Laroche and put some pressure on the chap. He might drop some sort of info on how to get round the boobytraps. Sinclair PS @ Lytinwheedle: Wenn du die FILES fertig übersetzt hast, mail sie mir bitte. Ich kann sie auf meinen Server hochladen und hier einen Link posten. crgfehr@spectraweb.ch

EDIT: Oh dear, wordfilter . Replace the asterisc with a 'u' when copy&pasting the URL into your browser!!!Tentative pre-release of two files. The official readme and files.zip Both will probably still contain one or the other mistake. Sorry about that, just point it out and I'll update. http://www.lytinwheedle.f*ckyouanddie.com/ Ignore the website, it does not have any content at all, its just a placeholder, filedump at the moment. Thanks to f*ckyouanddie.com for hosting. Lastly, I mailed Sinclair the stuff, so if he produces a different version with corrections on his own servers, it will replace this current release asap. I don't have much bandwith, so my links will go down when my allowance has been reached. To all those going 'FYAD... wait a minute, this rings a bell...!', Yes, I've got stairs in my house! PAK CHOOIE UNF! The translation of the rest will come in bite-sized bits and pieces throughout the month. A proper, full English release will come out when all work has been completed. Before that, individual files will get posted to give people a slight clue as to what is going on in the campaign. (The story is a great deal better than that of most other PC games ).

It's a great mod, German lessons in highschool finally paid off *wink* However i noticed the damage system is kinda off-scale. Meaning extremely low damages occur sometimes when hitting an enemy. I shot a greenshirt in the head at point-blank range with a 5.56AP bullet and he took -2 damage. Then when it was his turn he shot his .45 SOCOM in my kevlarvest and i took -54 damage. Weird man...similar occasions happend during gameplay all the time.

@ Mr. Headshot I've noticed the sometimes erratic damage done by single shots too. But as it does not happen all the time i call it the "luck factor" @ bula: Transfer to the island: Search the palace in Catalina for access to the basement. Palmtop and datamodule are parts of an item that requires 5 single pieces to be put together. With palmtop and datamudule you already have the "data processing" parts of the device. All you need now are the two "data collecting" parts and an item for connecting "data processing" and "data collecting" parts. Sinclair

Lytin! Thanks for another great mode. I'm wondering: are you going to issue a patch to cover all the problems you name in readme? I've just defeated Elliot the Vampire (great fun!), and am stuck underground... Tried to use your hints, but just get "the other side of Windows" every time. I know some people really hate spoilers, so maybe it's worth to start a separate topic for those who love them? :-)

Mic: Don't thank me, I didn't do any work on this mod at all! I just translated some text files.
As for the problems listed in the Readme, as far as I know, they are not fixable, so they won't be patched. Sorry.
As for translating the rest: I'm not dead yet, and I'll probably get cracking sometime in the next few weeks, Dialogues and Itemdescs need to be done. The last, and minor point will be translating the map names. Sorry I didn't get any more work done on this, but I am back home in Luxembourg, and I don't have very much time (too many people to meet and so on...)

@ mike9o You need to hire Ivanova right at the beginning of the game to fix the laptop. @ Mic (and anyone else) You need to replace the map for sector E15. You find the replacement maps here: http://ja-forum.gamigo.de/showthread.php?t=15341 (posting # 2) You will also find updated maps for sectors H14 and P8 and an addon with new AE faces to go with B2B.
