Hi peeps I committed myself to playing Deidranna Lives with the 1.13-engine. Thanks to wil473 there may be a way to do so in the not-so-far-future As you can read in the 1.13-general-forum ( thread-link ) theres quite some progress qick summing up of the progress so far: Original items converted (e.g. keycards in the right places)(needs overhaul) DL Weapons added (along with some new ones, rough draft only yet, mor info sometime later) Maps are working (even the "off-map" endgame ones; here: working=loading and seemingly accessible through the right means) NPCs/RPCs are working (although their special items is another story  ) There are some flaws, though: Keycards give no additional intel (launcher needed?) E-mails may not come in right or some may be missing at all ... since without the additional RIS-reports thereīs some important part iof the story missing, this has to be changed. Preferrably without using the launcher. Achieving this could possibly done by recieving the intel through e-mails upon finding the keycards (by "finding" i mean relieving their former owners of their weight  ). But since i donīt know much about modding story-parts of this game, help with "recieving an e-mail upon an NPCīs death" would be greatly appreciated. THe same goes for the actual intel-text of the keycard-clues: Can anyone send them to me in clear-text (i could maye get some from ma ja2-gold-DL-installation, but since i only got a working german one, this would be of limited use ... ) ? Where there pictures sent along? If getting the intel through mail isnīt possible, and changing the ris-report without the launcher, a fallback-solution could be the use of crypted zip-files. (But even then iīll need the clear text (and pics) from someone) This whole thing is done anticipating the allowance of the original creators. (I couldnīt reach them yet ... someone know how other than posting and e-mail through this board ?) And if this is releasable sometime there will be space needed for hosting (althoug methinks that will be the least problem) So far, so good BulletSix

no its not dead. Its somewhat dormant, though. RL can be ea bitch sometimes  I am still having problems with the story-items and the mails. Aside from the story (and gun-balancing) its working ok. I am still at this.

I think since most of the people know the story anyways (and there is still the launcher), it wouldnt hurt too much if you release it anyways and maybe fix it later. more important is imo the gunbalancing, if there are heavy problems..

Even the English version requires you to patch to the infamous 1.06 .exe then has password protected .zip files. I wish someone would at least make a more user friendly DL and Vietnam SOG.
I once fluked SOG onto my computer but for the life of me can't remember how. Every subsequent attempt has been an excersise in frustration.

I seem to remember it had something to do with a UB patch and if I'm recalling correctly this is where I had problems.

ok, loooong time, no see ... or better: read ^^ as it stands today: - i will continue working on this "project" - i want to wait for a 1.13 milestone-release or at least for the implementation of the new-inv-system into the SVN-build - if anybody wants to "take over" or do this by himself ... feel free  The plan is to put together a folder called "Data-DL" which contains all neccessary files to play. (change the custom-folder in the .ini and it is supposed to work) tbh this was shelfed due to lack of intrest, RL-stuff and other games (damn those mmorpgs  ) as stated above, i will continue, because: JA NEVER DIES (just smetimes it hibernates  )

so a quick update: - i begun work on the .xmls, working with excel is fine  - i am not using free ids in the current xmls, but use greater numbers (than 1200) (yes the editor can handle that  ) - i will try to stay as close to the original as possible. Meaning no new Guns compared to DL and even maybe no Railgun instead of the Rocket-Rifle - i got hold on the clues gotte by the keycards  so that will be implemented, most likely as a bunch of screenshots in a password-encryptet zip-file. One for each Keycard, which contains the Password in the description. No ingame-transformation of the clues, though. - i currently plan to "release" an addition to DL containing a few new (SciFi-)Weapons and maybe a few maps and/or some changes to existing ones (donīt get your hopes up on good mapping on my part, though  )

the first attempt was a loong time ago .... now the secon one. Its coming together bit by bit  - DL-maps are working, currently using the New-INV-8.1beta - atm testing with the old inv-system: * the weapons i added are working. shootable, lookable and carryable (although the tiny pictures are missing atm ) * the story-RPCs are there, the story-item drops. to to: # graphics for the ammo and grenades # zip-files for the reports bsed on your findings. (those will definitely be external. So alt-Tab or windowed mode is needed  ) # inital testing the items (*) so i am hoping to have something for you folks to rant about in the more-or-less near future (hopefully January  ) if a) my timetable doesnīt get totally thrown over  b) the initial DL crew doesnīt object. please always Remember: the hard work like story, ideas, mapping and such wasnīt done by me. All the merits go to the JAmodSquad. I merely edited some xml. to port over to 1.13. (*) fully testing and further balancing will happen to and with the ones playing this thing. Edit: in the tactic-screen all items work, but if i try to "detail-view" the MPD-item-stuff, the game crashes ... the Guns work, the items donīt ... <- forget that ... i put the bigitems in the wrong folder , lol ... man i seem tired ^^ The merge of the M41A1 with the brocken GL and a toolkit only results in the "working" gun, but no attached Grenadelauncher  ok, now you merge a broken M41A1 with a toolkit and get a working M41A1 w/o attached GL and a M41A1-specific GL to attach it to. Downside is loosing the toolkit on the way ^^ but hey, at least its working in a way

The graphics are to ... 96% 1.13, 2% original DL and 2% from me and others. The engine is (or will be) the 1.13 with the (optional) new inv. The maps will be original DL and i plan to moify and perhaps add some, which will be optional. (Modification of existing maps will be in the range of dedicated (or enhanced) storage-areas in Maps where you most likely will aquire regularely some equipment. I currently plan to add a small scavenger hunt with maybe one or two rewards at the end.) The language will be most definately english only (in spite of me being german, i know  ) ... maybe iīll change my pov on this if thereīs enough demand.

If there is any images you want or need that I have or can make gimme a shout. I'm testing a couple of XML mods myself at the moment to do with merges and such. Should be fun to get some of the modular systems into DL 1.13

If it's gonna be out of the game,the screenshots idea is better than having to close the laptop.'Cause closing the laptop may not activate the hint.
I remember some ppl having problems activating the hint via the launcher in the original DL.

Sorry for letting you guys down. As i was still working on it, i got cought up in features and stuff, some balancing and bug-fixing ... mainly the thought "this HAS to be in it, too" kept me from putting together something working. Then my virtual-JA2-PC ceased and i got "distracted" by various time-consumers (RL, familiy, work, other games *blush*). And i am afraid that will not change for some time  I will try to get together my files in a timely fashion and send them over to wil, as he is way more dedicated and stable than i am ...

Sorry BulletSix, I was losing coherency and alertness yesterday after adding your Guns and P2Items graphics to my own DL-1.13 project, along with all the typing to enter the story text from the clues you took screenshots (into in-game items). Oh by the way thanks for the confidence that I'll be able to finish this thing.
I just need to figure out stats for the guns that look like they're from ShadowRun if I'm not mistaken. I haven't had time to see if your XML's can be opened in the XML editor, so I was hoping you could fill in the some rough characteristics such as how they compare to other weapons in-game as far as range, damage, AP, burst/auto, and types of attachments. Same for the load bearing vests, I need to figure out pockets unless you already have them available. The basic ITEMS.xml characteristics I can extract using Excel from your ITEMS.xml and insert directly into mine.
The delay in the release has actually been a good thing, we've got some new ammo graphics in basic 1.13, including a set of eye pleasing 5.7mm 50round SMG magazines. Best of all they are P1 Items so they do not interfere with your graphics BulletSix. The only other thing is to rename my DL side project so it does not get confused with the base mod you released a few days ago. How does "DL-1.13FS Hybrid" for "Deidranna Lives!-1.13 Folding Stock Hybrid" sound?
Once I have your "RPG" items added, I anticipate public release of a v.1.0 in a few more days.
EDIT: I've sucessfully imported the basic ITEMS.XML stats for your items there BulletSix using MS Excel. In the process, their item type was changed to "miscellanous" so that they would be immediately XML Editor compatible. Now to change them back into useful items.
EDIT2: I've looked through the items, and have a few specific questions:
1) Beretta Storm XX - May I be able to use it as the real-world Beretta Storm CX4 in 9x19mm? JA2 1.13 is short on pistol calibre civilian carbines (I think the Calico 900 is the only one), but for such a "special" cartridge already has two 9x39mm DMR's plus two AR's and a SMG.
2) ACME P90 - A longer range FN P90 with Rail Interface System (RIS) for attachments?
3) The 6.8mm Caseless round - Should I make it XAP like the in-game 4.7mm, or like the 6.8mm SPC round use AP Hi-Power type a creation of mine (used in FSTM and UC-1.13) which gives it a bit more stopping power against unarmoured targets, a sort of cut down AET for real-world full power cartridges?
4) Are there any additional image credits I should cite besides yourself for Gun384-394 and P2Item100-113?

The name sounds fine to me. first to your specifics: 1) yes, of course. That ws the gun i drew the picture from  2) exactly. 3) hmm good question ... i vote for the second one  well the gun stats were preliminary in my files ... very beta  i thought of them as very late/endgame equipment so being on par with the vanilla items that are available then. *looks after them and the LBEs and after a solution to post it in readable form*
